“It’s just not fun anymore.” That was the refrain Amy Powell kept hearing across job sites and offices – and the spark behind her first book, Making Construction Fun Again: Structural Support for Those Building Our World. Through her experience as a project manager and consultant, Amy was driven to help the construction industry rediscover the pride, camaraderie and purpose that comes from solving tough problems with great people.

Amy joined the Better Book Project in 2024, where we supported her through idea and manuscript development, as well as coaching and editorial feedback. The result is a practical, human-centred guide that’s resonating with construction professionals, leaders, and teams who want to restore meaning and connection to the industry that builds our world – and we can’t wait to see how it shapes the future of construction!
